Sundays are Music Days 5

Let me share my musical promiscuity on Sundays.
Sundays are music days.

After watching crazy-stupid-love, I decided to theme this sunday's song list all about love which was appropriate coz I caught myself just listening to love songs (but really, all songs are love songs in their own way) so it was relatively easy.

BUT by the middle of the week, my fickleness kicked in and i lost interest in the whole love theme and fell for other feel good songs. But that was the point of all this, my promiscuous musical taste.

What are these lists? Concept (and first list) is explained here.
My previous sunday lists: 2 , 3 , 4.

Same rules, no judgments, no genre, no limits, just music I tune the world out to. :)

1. This is what love should be about -- at least for me. Fun. Sweet. No hassle. Seemingly random, but there are deeper connections there that outsiders wouldn't really understand. And well, simply put,
puts a smile on your face. Here's I love you 5 by Never Shout Never

2. "She's got moves like Barracuda and she's really funny and she's hoping for love. It can be a wonderful thing."
Is this song for me?! hahaha. Majority of my song choice comes from the fact that I can relate to the lyrics.
But this song has both lyrics and beat. It's Love by Foster the People

3. I chose a live video for this next one because Adele is one of those artists that sound the same on record and live
-- which makes me love her more. Also, saves me the trouble of introducing the original artist for this song -- Steel Drivers.
Here's If it hadn't been for love by Adele

4. Okay, so I said love was the theme. BUT by midweek, I lost interest in love (yes, im fickle like that).
And I fell ABSOLUTELY in love with this next song. And the video -- omg the video!
I never really got the whole appeal of musicians before, but Adam Levine is just wayyyy too divine.... im absolutely hooked to the Voice now. Oh just give it a listen, and Im sure you'll get the song stuck in ya head!
Move Like Jagger by Maroon 5 feat. Cristina Aguilera

5. okay so this one a lil to do with love, the raw, heart-wrenching kind -- unrequited love.
The original by Kanye west is good, he may have been a douche, but Kanye really knows his music.

Anyways, that isnt the one that was stop-the-tracks amuhzing.
It's Dia Frampton's version (during her performance in the Voice) that really caught my ear.
Seriously. To anyone who has at one point felt that he/she could've given the RIGHT love to the WRONG person only to have that person throw it back at you, fight back by listening to this.
Heartless (Cover) by Dia Frampton.

Enjoy,
Joanie

Sundays are Music Days 4

Let me share my musical promiscuity on Sundays.
Sundays are music days.

This week has been a little low for me. And I can't seem to explain why when I'm asked if I'm okay. For some strange reason, I just didn't have enough energy to muster a "SUPER fine!" so I chose to avoid people and events instead.
But all's good now, I'm blessed with the most amuhzing friends, the most supportive family
and the most perceptive strangers that my frown was turned upside down.

But I guess it won't come as a surprise if my music for this Sunday is a little slower than my usual beats. the funk is still in there somehow but these are some of the songs that either kept me together or tore me apart this week (in a good way).

What are these lists? Concept is explained here. My previous sunday lists here and here.
Same rules, no judgements, no genre, no limits, just music I tune the world out to. :)

1. I've been in love with this song for the longest time but momentarily forgot about it when i deleted my ipod's old playlist. My love was rekindled when the EB of AMDG (ASMPH's dance org) chose this to dance to, and we each had to contribute a choreography. Listen to its lyrics! How appropriate. Slow me down by Emmy Rossum

2. Ask any Fleet Foxes fan and this probably won't be in their radar for FF's best songs, that would have to be the next song in the list. But for some reason, I asolutely adore this song. It's lyrics (you can probably tell Im a lyrics person haha) made me stop and listen. Someone you'd admire by Fleet Foxes

I know I made the list by song, not by artist, but I just couldn't put Fleet Foxes in without putting this song in. I just couldn't. Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes

3. So a friend of mine kept linking me to this artist, and seeing him as a hipster (hihi sorry mount!), I refused to listen because in my mind it would be just another indie band wannabe thing, but finally because my friend was sobrang kulit (persistent) I gave it a listen, and lo and behold, I adore him! Elephant Gun by Beirut.

4. Another song that another hipster friend kept pushing for me to listen to. I never did, even if I pretended I did (sorry raffy! hihi) until last last week when I saw a list of songs he told me to listen to but never did. The song didn't catch me as much as the video. Actually, its the marriage of both the song and video that got me hooked.
If there's one word to describe it, it'd be; Desensitized. The Suburbs by Arcade Fire

5. Been addicted to them after downloading their discography recently and this song's beat and chorus is the most fascinating in awhile, its both happy and chill, something I needed this week.
I Would do Anything for You by Foster the People

6. Okay, so I started the habit of choosing 6 songs, and now I can't for the life of me, limit myself to 5.
Since its my blog, its MY rules. haha Ofcourse what is a slow and thinking song list without Adele in it.
I love the lyrics of this song. "he could change the world with his hands behind his back." Daydreamer by Adele

Enjoy,
Joanie

Sundays are Music Days 3

Let me share my musical promiscuity on Sundays.
Sundays are music days.

These songs have been my get-excited-when-I-hear-the-first-few-seconds hits in my ever-shuffling itunes/ipod. <3
I noticed that there's probably not much diversity in this week's picks coz they all have this funky vibe to it, but either way,
close your eyes and just listen, i assure you a musical experience of some sorts
- with unvoluntary feet tapping
(or that's just me).

What are these lists? Concept is explained here. My previous sunday list here.
Same rules, no judgements, no genre, no limits, just music I tune the world out to. :)

1. This first one was great as it is originally by Bon Iver (orig version here) but this particular version struck me more -- maybe coz its a girl singing it? :) Skinny Love by Birdy Appropriate for the early thunderstorms at the start of this week.

2. Boom boom boom. <3 first few seconds of this song makes it a keeper -- its not Adele's usual slow songs or heartache songs. I've been listening to Adele a lil too much lately, Im the type who downloads by discography and hers is just one that no woman (or man!) should live without. This is Rumour Has It by Adele

3. I've always been and always will be a hip-hop girl. But lately, hip-hop music hasn't been all that great.
This next song however basically put together a whole lot of hip-hop royalty
including John Legend, The-Dream, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Kid Cudi, Elton John, Rihianna, BY master-douchebag-but-cant-deny-his-talent Kanye West himself,
into one song that makes you imagine the city lights, and sing along. Just listen. All of the Lights by Kanye West.

4. Whattavideo. I never thought I'd actually choose to listen to electro music
-- but this just goes to show how fickle my taste is when it comes to music.
Then again, listen to the funkyness of this song -- first few seconds pa lang, okay na! Fa Fa Fa by Datarock

5. Lastly, I couldn't really choose between these songs coz they say the same thing -- SMILE!!! :D
Life is NEVER as bad as it is in your head. If it really is, music (NOT sex, drugs and alcohol) is the BEST escape. <3
This isSmile by Lily Allen.

6. The other smile song. hihihi I love the line "don't cry BEFORE you get hurt.". This doesnt have an official video, but this fan-made animation basically imbibes the mood I'm talking about. Also the line "Gotta Keep Smiling, through the thunder and lightning" just makes me feel soooo... smiley. Gotta Keep Smiling by Scouting for Girls.

Enjoy,
Joanie

Sundays are Music Days

Before the day ends, i want to introduce a new concept
(coz if the day ends, there really wouldn't be a point to the idea).

Let me share my musical promiscuity on Sundays.
Sundays will be music days.

i got the idea from Sara A. blog and she named sunday to be her song day. :))
i absolutely loved the idea. because i realized, music is one of the HUGE (est? haha) inspiration in my life. so ofcourse, gotz ta share it.

But since i can be a little confusing with my musical taste
(i absolutely hate being boxed into a genre
— i can go all out party rockin, chillin to folk, get high on techno, emo to ballads, reflective to indie, and heck, kahit local ALL IN ONE DAY)
so let me share my musical lovers for the week -- my soundtrip/sound escape the entire week. :)

1. This is a cover of daft punk’s “Something about us.” the original is good as it is, but the saxophone of this version is just lalalalalove.

2. Okay, so I know this is old. but i heard this again during a fashion show last summer and can't seem to get it out of my happy feel good playlist
-- Florence and the Machine's Dog Days are Over.

3. This needs no introduction. Anyone who has recently interacted with me knows that I have just been singing this song for the past weeks - nay, BELTING this song (gotta give Adele justice)
-- Adele's Rolling in the Deep

4. Ah the classics. This is one of my "WAKE UP and BE HAPPY!" songs. :)
-- The Beatle's Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da

5. And ofcourse, the inspiration of my blog name (not coz its my favorite but simply because i was listening to this song when i was making my blog, im random like that). But you gotta admit, the cool beats of this song is comfortable (whatta description haha)
-- Steve Appleton's Dirty Funk

Oh, you'll notice this isn't an official video -- he's not actually a famous artist, just a beautiful musician with a beautiful guitar. haha
