Let me share my musical promiscuity on Sundays.
Sundays are music days.
These songs have been my get-excited-when-I-hear-the-first-few-seconds hits in my ever-shuffling itunes/ipod. <3
I noticed that there's probably not much diversity in this week's picks coz they all have this funky vibe to it, but either way,
close your eyes and just listen, i assure you a musical experience of some sorts
- with unvoluntary feet tapping (or that's just me).
What are these lists? Concept is explained here. My previous sunday list here.
Same rules, no judgements, no genre, no limits, just music I tune the world out to. :)
1. This first one was great as it is originally by Bon Iver (orig version here) but this particular version struck me more -- maybe coz its a girl singing it? :) Skinny Love by Birdy Appropriate for the early thunderstorms at the start of this week.
2. Boom boom boom. <3 first few seconds of this song makes it a keeper -- its not Adele's usual slow songs or heartache songs. I've been listening to Adele a lil too much lately, Im the type who downloads by discography and hers is just one that no woman (or man!) should live without. This is Rumour Has It by Adele
3. I've always been and always will be a hip-hop girl. But lately, hip-hop music hasn't been all that great.
This next song however basically put together a whole lot of hip-hop royalty
including John Legend, The-Dream, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Kid Cudi, Elton John, Rihianna, BY master-douchebag-but-cant-deny-his-talent Kanye West himself,
into one song that makes you imagine the city lights, and sing along. Just listen. All of the Lights by Kanye West.
4. Whattavideo. I never thought I'd actually choose to listen to electro music
-- but this just goes to show how fickle my taste is when it comes to music.
Then again, listen to the funkyness of this song -- first few seconds pa lang, okay na! Fa Fa Fa by Datarock
5. Lastly, I couldn't really choose between these songs coz they say the same thing -- SMILE!!! :D
Life is NEVER as bad as it is in your head. If it really is, music (NOT sex, drugs and alcohol) is the BEST escape. <3
This isSmile by Lily Allen.
6. The other smile song. hihihi I love the line "don't cry BEFORE you get hurt.". This doesnt have an official video, but this fan-made animation basically imbibes the mood I'm talking about. Also the line "Gotta Keep Smiling, through the thunder and lightning" just makes me feel soooo... smiley. Gotta Keep Smiling by Scouting for Girls.
Enjoy,
Joanie
